Hide transcriptionSparta, TN-Mike and Ginny Mason were looking forward to a full pension, filled with visits from their grandchildren. But, as Mike entered the sixties, came with a terrible implementation.
"Never going to be able to retire," Mike thinking. "I remember thinking and again and again."
Years of credit card spending and only minimum payments left the Masons in deep financial hole.
"I am ashamed to say that we are forty-four thousand dollars plus credit card debt," says Mike. "At least one third of the revenue goes back to credit card debt, perhaps even more," says Ginny.
In the middle of the pair mad an important decision that was putting for yeas.
"Ginny and makes a commitment to tithe first," Mike says. "Ginny has always handled all our finances and everything was so good to say, ' Mike, this is not right should be tithing. '"
"I have asked to tithe, so I knew tithing was the way to go," says Ginny.
The Masons had CBN partners for years and decided to increase their giving.
"We are part of the ADA to help others through operation blessing and the Ministry there," says Mike. "It was a heartening during a very disappointing time of my life".
Shortly after began tithing but Mike got a terrible news. Tire factory where he worked was shut down and would be out of a job. Mike reviewed the options.
"I just decided the bankruptcy was the only way," says Mike. "Even if I knew that was not the right way, there seemed to be the only way."
"But I just kept praise the Lord" says Ginny. "I just kept thanking him saying, "I do not know why this would be through Lord but through this and somehow were to make it. '"
They left the office without bankruptcy attorney to sign the documents. When they won at home there was an unexpected message from tire factory. Mike qualified for early retirement from just three days and offered a substantial bonus early retirees.
"The Lady in front of me the paperwork and low and behold there was enough money to pay our debts," says Mike. "There was also enough for us to invest some money and be able to go ahead and take retirement …"
"We end at this point where things are starting to be a miracle," says Ginny.
Mike and Ginny are enjoying their retirement and their grandchildren. It is free from the fear that came with your debt.
"We had to let go of fear," says Ginny. "Going to take care of me and I know that now."
"When you finally surrendered to God, my finances" Mike recalls, "I went from debt debt almost immediately, something you could never have thought of or planned on my own. You cannot make God out. "
